I feel inspired each time I bike the Williamsburg Bridge to swim in Brooklyn (which is everyday). Seeing the city skyline and listening to some main character music puts me in this unique headspace where I feel capable of accomplishing anything and everything.
My ability to believe in myself. I know the reason that I have managed to make my dreams of living in New York come true and accomplishing so much at my age is because I have always trusted myself and knew I could do it. Even if nobody else believed in me. I will forever value my younger self for sticking to her gut, putting in the work, and never letting anyone make her second guess herself.
There is no such thing as overvaluing :)
For me, "well-being" means supporting and honoring what my body needs in the current moment. It was a hard and long journey to get comfortable trusting my body and working for it instead of against it. Some days well-being looks like eating nourishing foods and pushing myself in the pool/gym. On other days it is letting my body sleep and talking through my emotions. Well-being is viewed as being highly individualistic, especially with the rise of the "personal wellness journey," that community is often forgotten about. Caring and ensuring your community is taken care of and has access to resources to "be well" is just as important. What is the point of well-being if the person down the street from you can't be well?
Water is so personal to me. I became a competitive swimmer in the 2nd grade and swam year-round until high school. I recently got back into swimming, and it has been such a gift. Being in a body of water and swimming up and down the pool is cathartic, and it is the one time when there are no distractions, and I can exist with my thoughts. The mental clarity I experience from being in the water is one I will always crave. Swimming is my therapy.
I am someone who thrives in a routine. I look forward to my morning routine each day, but if I could change one thing, it would be reducing screen time in the mornings and evenings.
Magnesium, Gerolsteiner mineral water, cottage cheese, swim cap and goggles, dark chocolate, and ballet flats.
There are no thoughts when I shower. Just vibes.
