The water in the US is not as clean as we think. In addition to chlorine, our water supply contains heavy metals (e.g., magnesium, calcium, copper, lead, arsenic) and other contaminants that are a result of human-led processes — such as pesticides that enter the water supply through farmland, chemical waste from factories, city sewage, or rusty old pipes.
We created The Jolie Water Report to help educate people about the chemicals found in their shower water. Simply click the ticker bar at the top of this page, type in your zip code, and we'll email you a water report for your very own municipality. The report is created via public data, and contains readings for over 99 contaminants that could be found in your shower water.
Yes — we recommend replacing your filter every 90 days (about 3 months) for optimal performance. Each Jolie filter is designed to effectively remove chlorine, heavy metals, and other contaminants for approximately 90 days of regular use. After that period, the filtering media becomes saturated and less effective.
Chlorine and heavy metals strip your skin and hair of their natural oils, disrupting the microbiome and weakening the hair cuticle. This leads to dryness, irritation, breakouts, and brittle or thinning hair. Filtered water removes these contaminants, allowing your skin and hair to retain moisture and recover their natural balance.
Hard water contains high levels of dissolved minerals like calcium and magnesium. While not necessarily harmful to health, hard water can leave residue on skin and hair, making them feel dry and dull. Soft water has fewer minerals and is gentler on your body. The Jolie filter helps reduce the harsh effects of hard water by removing chlorine and heavy metals.
All skin types benefit from filtered water, but those with sensitive, dry, or acne-prone skin tend to see the most dramatic improvements. If you experience eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or unexplained breakouts, removing chlorine and contaminants from your shower water can make a significant difference in reducing irritation and flare-ups.
