Peruvian creative behind Chevere Means Cool—a space to celebrate emerging creators who stand out for their originality, impactful missions, and thoughtful work.
Chevere Means Cool started as a podcast to share the stories behind projects in fashion, art, food, music, and more, and has since expanded to an in-person community where people come together over Sobremesa dinners, panels, and more.
As a proud Latina, Dani strives to empower and shine a light on the growing Latin American creative scene :)
I recently recorded a podcast episode with Mariana Vergara for Chevere Means Cool and I felt so inspired by her story and our conversation. Mariana and I met briefly when I was in Paris last summer at one of her pop-ups and stayed connected over Instagram since then. To have her come to my Brooklyn apartment many months later, and record this episode felt super special. Her story as a Colombian woman running her own vintage business in Paris and being the designer for an emerging brand with no technical design background really inspired me (there are no rules, you can do it all if you work hard and put your whole heart into it!!)
Every time I record an episode for the podcast, I feel extremely grateful to have these connections with people who show me that pursuing these dreams is not only worth it but necessary.
My ability to bring people together (especially over a yummy dinner) — I love holding space for deep conversations and truly getting to know one another. I also make a mean Lomo Saltado ;)
Being “on trend” … it can be tough not to fall into whatever is trending, but this feeds into mindless consumption :( Find your own style and stick to that regardless of what’s trending, it’s more fun I promise!
Finding balance and being patient with yourself in the process.
Water is just the best!! I grew up in Lima, Peru so being on the coast made water such an essential part of my life. Especially in the summer, jumping in the cold ocean was such a revitalizing experience. I still look forward to that every time I go back home.
Ugh I want to be better about not checking my phone first thing in the morning… I’d love to start my day with a little phone-free walk instead.
Gemsun Korb Bag, Ceremonia Shampoo + Conditioner duo, Yellow tulips, Almond milk cortado, Dark chocolate with sea salt, LESSE Soothing lip Balm, Odissea Booba ring (silver)
I like to play music while I shower and take that time to disconnect, so the other day I was thinking about how I miss Latin dance parties and Latin music (if you know a place in NYC that isn’t La Victoria please lmk!)
